What is Bilibili?

Bilibili is a video sharing platform based in China that hosts user-generated content. The platform primarily has short-form videos but allows users to post comments in real time over the videos, creating a sort of live chat room for the video. These different types of comments are called “bullet comments” and they can be edited, translated or have other special effects.

Bilibili isn’t well-known in Western markets but it has a decent user base in China. It’s popular with the Gen Z demographic and although its primary language is Chinese, it also has an international version available in English, Indonesian, Thai and Vietnamese.
