When Twitch allowed simulcasting in October 2023, the overall live views on Restream spiked. This clearly shows that creators want to multistream and see real value in it.
Simulcasting means streaming the same content to multiple platforms at the same time. It gives live video creators a leg up by sending their content to more places without extra work.
YouTube’s massive live streaming potential
According to Streamscharts, on an average Wednesday, Twitch has 5 times more live streaming channels and almost 2X fewer live viewers compared to YouTube. This means YouTube creators have a golden opportunity to grow simply by adding live content.
Those who start now will have a competitive advantage over those who catch up later. The audience is already there, waiting.
Even Kick, a fast-growing streaming platform, is nowhere near YouTube in terms of viewers. If you're after more eyeballs, YouTube is the place to be.
How creators grow
We analyzed 5K random Restream creators with YouTube channels to see how they grew over time.
The results were fascinating:
- The average growth of followers for simulcasting creators over 1-2 years was 503%, 6X more than single-channel streamers.
- The channel with the most growth saw a 63,000% increase in followers—6.3X more than single-channel streamers.
We also checked around 1K Restream creators who streamed to one channel ONLY (a smaller group since most people use Restream for multicasting):
- Here’s what we noticed:
- The average growth of followers for single-channel creators was 83%.
- The top channel grew their following by 10,000%
These channels spanned various industries, from gaming to business, technology companies, brands, media services, and non-profits.
Common factors between both groups included:
- Joining Restream with at least 1,000 followers to exclude potential massive growth from zero.
- Starting to stream 1 or 2 years ago.
- Streaming at least once in 2024.
- Streaming at least four times per month on average—consistent creators, excluding one-time big events.
Simulcasting yields strong results and grows your audience effectively without hassle. It’s also simply a good streaming practice to include YouTube in your list of channels.
Each platform’s unique advantage
By simulcasting, creators can leverage what each social platform does best. For example:
- YouTube is the best place to get discovered because it works like Google search. Create smart, trendy titles, and YouTube will suggest your videos to relevant viewers. YouTube also powers the best possible video quality and has almost no streaming limits.
- X is actively promoting live content and accumulating a geeky and professional audience. Its user base includes a lot of tech-savvy people with purchasing power.
- Their discoverability for live video is growing too. For reference, in 2024, there have been over 59 billion searches on X around the world.
- According to X, their growth in video views is massive: 8 billion average daily video views.
Simulcasting helps you reap all these benefits with a single stream.
Restream integrates easily with your favorite broadcasting software like OBS, vMix, and more. The multistreaming works in the cloud and does not add extra load to your system.
Cross-platform chat helps to keep viewers engaged without having tons of tabs open.
And if encoders like OBS are not your thing, Restream Studio simplifies video creation. You can go live straight from your browser. Just connect your channels, talk to your audience, and watch your community grow across all social media at once.
Be seen, everywhere
Reach more people, and meet viewers where they like to watch. Live stream to YouTube, Instagram, Facebook, Twitch, X, TikTok, LinkedIn, and more at once.
