Twitter’s recommendations for RTMP and HLS streaming are:

  • Bitrate: 9,000 kbps (recommended) - 12,000 kbps (maximum)
  • Video codec: H.264/AVC
  • Audio bitrate: 128 kbps
  • Resolution: 720p (recommended) - 1080p (maximum)
  • Frame rate: 30fps (recommended) - 60fps (maximum)
  • Keyframe interval: 3 seconds

Keep in mind, these specifications are for live streaming via RTMP from a laptop or desktop computer, using Twitter’s Media Studio Producer and third-party encoding software. Only certain Twitter users have access to Media Studio, and those who don’t can only go live from their mobile devices. If you go live from your mobile device, ensure your internet connection is strong enough for live streaming.

If you want an easy way to go live on Twitter, along with multiple other platforms at the same time, Restream can help you out.
