Background music can make your Facebook Live stream more dynamic and engaging. However, you have to be sure you have permission to play the music. Otherwise, you could run into legal and copyright issues.
There are two ways you can play music on Facebook Live without getting into copyright trouble:
- Choose music from a royalty-free library.
- Use Restream Studio’s background music feature.
You can also play music that you own the license to. You’ll have to prove to Facebook that you’re the license holder if you get a copyright violation.
Choose music from a royalty-free library
If you want to play music on your Facebook Live stream and not get slapped with a copyright violation, you have to play music that is either in the public domain, royalty-free or original. One option is the Facebook Sounds Library, which is a collection of songs and audio that Facebook owns and are therefore free to use.

Play music with Restream Studio

1. Log in to your Restream account or create a new one.
