Best live streaming software for LinkedIn Live

LinkedIn's preferred partners vs. RTMP encoders: which streaming software to use for LinkedIn Live, and how LinkedIn Live events work.

Quick answer: LinkedIn doesn't let you stream directly from LinkedIn, so you need a streaming tool. LinkedIn names four preferred third-party broadcast tools: Restream, Socialive, StreamYard and Switcher. Only these tools can schedule a LinkedIn Live event for you. You can also use an encoder such as OBS Studio through LinkedIn's custom stream (RTMP) option.

If you want to stream to LinkedIn from your browser and reach other platforms at the same time, Restream is a strong choice. If you need multi-camera production from iPhones and iPads, look at Switcher Studio; if you're a large enterprise with strict brand and compliance requirements, Socialive is built for that.

This page is published by Restream. We checked LinkedIn Help and each vendor's website on October 28, 2026, and we list limitations for every tool, including our own.

Which setup is right for you?

  • You want to go live from your browser with guests: use a preferred partner with a browser studio, such as Restream or StreamYard.
  • You want to stream to LinkedIn and other platforms at once: use Restream, which sends one broadcast to LinkedIn and other connected channels, such as YouTube or X.
  • You film with several iPhones or iPads: Switcher Studio turns Apple devices into a multi-camera setup.
  • You run a professional production with an encoder: use OBS Studio or a hardware encoder with LinkedIn's custom stream (RTMP), or send your encoder to Restream to schedule events and add more destinations.

LinkedIn Live requires an event

LinkedIn Live broadcasts now run as LinkedIn Live events. You can schedule an event in advance to promote it, and a scheduled event creates a post that members can RSVP to. Attendees get reminders three days and 15 minutes before the start. Keep in mind:

  • Only preferred partners can schedule the event from their tool. According to LinkedIn Help, the option to schedule your live stream is only available in Restream, Socialive, StreamYard and Switcher.
  • With a custom stream (RTMP), you create the event on LinkedIn first, then generate the stream URL and key in LinkedIn's Live Studio. The Prepare to go live button becomes available one hour before the scheduled start (two hours for verified Pages).
  • You can go live from 15 minutes before to two hours after the scheduled start time. Otherwise, LinkedIn shows the stream as cancelled.
  • Pages can't use LinkedIn's registration form for Live events created in third-party broadcast tools. The form is only available for events created directly on LinkedIn.

With Restream, you can schedule your LinkedIn Live event in advance, or let Restream create the required LinkedIn event when you start an unscheduled broadcast.

The best LinkedIn Live streaming software

1. Restream

Restream is one of LinkedIn's preferred partners. You can connect your LinkedIn profile or Page, schedule LinkedIn Live events and go live from Restream Studio in your browser, or connect OBS or another encoder.

  • Strengths: browser studio with guests, screen sharing and branding; schedules LinkedIn Live events; streams to LinkedIn and other platforms at the same time; combined chat from all platforms.
  • Limitations: you can stream to one LinkedIn destination at a time; the Free plan adds Restream branding, and more channels and features depend on your plan.

2. StreamYard

StreamYard is a browser-based studio and a LinkedIn preferred partner. It's popular for interviews, panels and webinars.

  • Strengths: nothing to install for you or your guests; schedules LinkedIn Live events; multistreaming to several platforms.
  • Limitations: fewer guests and features on the free plan; advanced production needs a paid plan.

3. Socialive

Socialive is a video creation platform built for enterprises, with tools for social video, webinars and podcasts, and a LinkedIn Live integration. It's a preferred partner for scheduling LinkedIn Live events.

  • Strengths: designed for large teams with brand and compliance requirements; covers live and recorded video.
  • Limitations: aimed at enterprises; pricing and feature details are available from the vendor on request.

4. Switcher Studio

Switcher Studio is multi-camera live streaming software for iPhone, iPad and Mac. It can sync several devices into one production and stream to several platforms at once.

  • Strengths: up to nine camera angles from devices you already own; up to five remote guests; graphics and instant replay; schedules LinkedIn Live events.
  • Limitations: built around Apple devices; paid subscription after a 14-day free trial.

5. OBS Studio and other RTMP encoders

OBS Studio is free, open-source encoding software. LinkedIn supports it, along with hardware encoders and tools like Zoom, through a custom stream (RTMP or RTMPS).

  • Strengths: free and fully customizable; works with any production workflow.
  • Limitations: can't schedule LinkedIn events, so you create the event on LinkedIn and copy a new stream URL and key in Live Studio before each stream; no built-in remote guests. To schedule events from your encoder setup or add more platforms, connect OBS to Restream.

Who can go live on LinkedIn?

LinkedIn Live is available to members and Pages that meet LinkedIn's access criteria. When you connect a preferred partner like Restream, LinkedIn reviews your profile or Page and tells you right away whether you're approved. You can also trigger a review by creating an event on LinkedIn: if you're eligible, you'll see LinkedIn Live in the Event format dropdown. For eligibility tips, specs and step-by-step instructions, read our guide to LinkedIn Live.

How to go live on LinkedIn with Restream

  1. Sign up for Restream and make sure the LinkedIn profile or Page you want to use is eligible for LinkedIn Live.
  2. Open Channels, choose Add New, select LinkedIn and authorize access. Choose your profile or a Page you manage.
  3. Click New Stream and choose Restream Studio or Encoder | RTMP. To promote your stream, schedule your LinkedIn Live event in advance.
  4. Test your camera, microphone and presentation, then go live and check the LinkedIn event page.

How we compared

We started from LinkedIn Help's list of preferred broadcast tools and its custom stream (RTMP) documentation, then compared each tool on the criteria that matter for LinkedIn: whether it can schedule LinkedIn Live events, how you produce the stream, remote guests and streaming to other platforms. Product details come from each vendor's website and were checked on October 28, 2026. We don't list prices because they change often; check each vendor's site for current plans.
